Keeping Bearings Cool

Bearings are used in high heat and high rotation processes. These processes can include lasers, creating items on lathes, and automobile applications. Bearings can withhold high temperatures up to 180°F. Anything higher than this will damage housing. Interestingly, the outer bearing ring can be up to 15°F hotter than housing.  Bearings must remain cool to function purposefully.

Bearing units consist of seals, shaft locking mechanism, bearings, and lubricant. Depending on the industry the units are specialized to fit the processing niche. Bearing units come in a variety of materials. Some housing units include different types of steel, alloys, and even plastic. Each of these different creations offers different benefits.
